Instructions for use

If after extensive use, material folds between blades instead of being cut,
To re-adjust the blades:

  • Loosen locknut on blade adjustment screw and unlock safety latch, freeing handles.
  • Hold handles together in hand and tighten adjustment screw by turning head of screw clockwise with other hand. Tighten adjustment screw just enough to hold handles in this position. Holding locknut in place, turn adjustment screw head counterclockwise just enough to allow handles to spring open. In other words, the adjusting screw must be tightened so much that the handles are fixed in a position where the handle opening spring cannot push the handles open (to open the sheet metal scissors to the cutting position).
  • Holding locknut in place, turn adjustment screw head counterclockwise just enough to allow handles to spring open.
  • Tighten locknut on adjustment screw.

Watch the video explaining the adjustment of aviation snips blades:

It is very rare for aviation snips to break the spring that pushes the handles open. If this should still happen, a replacement spring will be sent to you free of charge. When ordering a replacement spring, you need to know that the springs of the left and right hand aviation snips are different.

You can see how to change the spring of aviation snips in the video below:

In the video below, Chuck Loparo talks about why aviation snips blades have serrations and what they should be in order to ensure a relatively smooth cutting edge of the sheet being cut.
